Bronc Riders Are Not Winning
You might thing that the rider's win. But, rodeo broncs riders don't win either saddle or bareback. I'm of a differing opinion. After quite a number of years photographing these horses throwing off their riders, well.... Yeah, the horses are the hands down winners.
They, the horses, invariably walk or more often, run, away from the competition. While, the riders, after dusting themselves off, most of the time, crawl away. Occasionally, they are fortunate enough, that one of the pick up riders will come up alongside and pull them off. That is not always a pretty, or eloquent sight either.
Above are just a few of the bronc riding and bareback riding photos that I've managed to capture. These photos are from the Millarville Rodeo, Water Valley Rodeo and Dog Pound Rodeo - all in Alberta, Canada. The bronc riders take a very real beating. I watch, as many do a lot of yoga type stretching beforehand. Gotta be one of the tougher sports going. The horses are definitely bigger and meaner. And considerably stronger. They want you off, you are going off! So, you see, rodeo broncs riders don't win either saddle or bareback!

They are so beautiful
Thanks. They are magical animals.
