Freedom Convoy Ottawa Canada
Our visit Day One
15th February 2022
Arrived on the 14th of February 2022. Most of the truckers are over two weeks in at this point. Got settled in and ready for Tuesday.
Our hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of things at the Parliament buildings.
We came here for a few reasons.
One, we have some good friends that are here in their truck and we wanted to show them our support - help them in anyway we could. We also wanted to ‘see for ourselves’. We know quite a number of people that have this idea that the trucker convoy is violent and evil and should be stopped. A larger portion of the people we know are in support, though. Also, we decided to go during the week as more support is needed then. Most people can attend on weekends.
Hopefully, I can give some honest insight as to what it is really like here.
We brought lots of warm clothes expecting some seriously cold temperatures. It is February in Ottawa in after all.
We arrived in the Parliament area around 11 am. Lots of smiles greeted us. One of the first people we met was ‘Kevin’. He is originally from Iran. Lived their under the rule of Ayatollah Khomeini. He told us this to make the point that he was quite familiar with oppression. For us it was the first of many emotional moments of the day. Such a warm kind man. After several heartfelt hugs and chatting for a bit we moved on.
Throughout the day we spoke to a couple dozen truckers. Hailing from all over the country. Ranging in age from 30 to 70 years old. John, about 30 years old, from the Windsor area: we walked and spoke with him for a while. “I’m doing this for my kids” was his statement.
The underlying theme here was a passion for our country.

I can’t even tell you how happy I am to hear this. Your pics are fab, as always. Please, please keep the updates coming!
Martin – I’m getting some pretty scary news out of Ottawa. The fence is up around the convoy, the arrests have begun, the assets are seized, bank accounts are frozen. This is freakin’ Kristallnacht all over again. I’m getting very scared for you both. Please, please, stay safe!

I love that you’re there fighting for freedom for Canada!
